The Maybelline Better Skin Concealer came fairly new to the beauty world. Maybelline is known for their amazing concealers and this Better Skin Concealer didn’t fall off that image.
I’ll start by saying that I have dry and flaky skin (as some of you may already know), and finding a proper concealer that won’t cling to my dry patches is pretty frustrating. Concealers from the drugstore have a lot of hits and misses. Often times we don’t have an option to try before we buy because it’s all sealed and testers are unavailable. Finding a hidden gem is so satisfying. As you probably can tell by this intro, this concealer is worth reaching for.
I don’t have much experience with primers because I’m not a fan of the feeling of having so many things piled on to my face. I gave this one a try to hop on to the primer train and see if I am willing to add another step to my already-too-long makeup routine. This MUFE Step 1 Equalizer in Smoothing is supposed to smooth out the texture of the skin while keeping your makeup stay in place all day.
This product comes in a matte squeezy tube in a simple and sleek design. I also love how all the Equalizers are in different colours based on their purpose. The product comes out in a skinny spout that easily controls how much product you want to use.
The Face Shop is one of the most accessible Korean beauty brands here in Toronto. I have known about this brand since I was in the Philippines and have always been a fan. I am so pleased that they opened several stores in the GTA!
The Therapy line is basically one of their anti-aging skincare line. I have been seeing fine lines and wrinkling around my face so I have decided to give this one a go.
I am not an expert on skincare and I am not sure what order it’s all supposed to go. Especially with Korean skincare, it can go as far as 20 steps (I might be exaggerating). I have been using these two on a daily basis, either by themselves, or both products together. As far as order is concerned, I always use the mist first followed by the serum. I have read somewhere that essences and serums are exactly the same? Feel free to correct me on this one.
Water and sleep are our best friends when it comes to skincare. A LOT of water and a LOT of sleep, that is. But we can’t have it all can we? We are all too busy “life-ing” and “adult-ing” that we just cannot be bothered to get extra Z’s and hydration.
This is where concealers save the day. Everybody has their own tricks and secrets when applying their favourite concealers. That’s why the wonderful beauty blog, Into The Gloss – founder of the brand Glossier, asked me to share my own secrets on how I perfect my concealer game.
So dry yet so spotty! A combination of winter dehydrated skin and random spots during PMS time-that’s my skin. I put a lot of creams and products on my skin to try and test out which works best. Some have come and gone, yet some stayed strong on the skincare game.
The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil has been in the game for several years now and I am not planning on replacing this simply because it works! This stuff basically clears up my skin and prevents ‘already-there’ spots from evolving into a ginormous zit!
Some people have been put off because of the fact that this tiny 10 mL bottle only has 15% tea tree oil. I honestly don’t know why The Body Shop decided to put only that amount. Personally, I don’t mind because the formula itself works fine. There must be a perfectly good reason why they didn’t make it 100% tea tree oil.
I would normally use it right after washing my face or after a serum or essence. I inspect my face and dot the tea tree oil using a clean finger and pat it only on the problem areas or red bumps and spots that would potentially develop into an acne.
A little goes a long way. I usually do 2 to 3 drops and that would be enough for all the spots in my face. I find that it works best on spots that are just starting to develop. Right when I apply it, I feel a tingling effect that also soothes the itchiness. I let it sit for about 3 to 5 minutes until it dries and continue with my skincare routine.
It doesn’t miraculously clear up your skin overnight but I notice that the bumps never grow bigger when I apply this.Spots are also less visible or gone after about 2 to 3 days.
I highly recommend this to all skin types who are looking for a good spot treatment!
